Since the launch of our company in 1989, we have embraced the concept of environmental consciousness by planting trees and using natural products wherever possible. As well, we actively reduce our carbon contribution, waste, energy consumption, and so forth. In 2009, we started to compensate the CO2 emission of our company vehicle. In 2011 and 2013, we eliminated our CO2 toll completely through compensatory measures, but we are well aware that this is simply the beginning, and the true solution lies in a comprehensive change of lifestyle.

The difference between sustainable and unsustainable development...
...becomes very visible when you observe human development throughout a couple of decades. Aside from political, social or economic factors, also town-planning, architecture and landscape design plays an important role in deciding about the fate of a society. With more than 30 years of experience in this field, all our design decisions are considering sustainability-impacts.
Reinhard Arens has worked in numerous organizations, NGOs and events in order to minimize environmental impact of human life on this planet. He was member in the "Bund NRW LAK Internationaler Umweltschutz", a working group that focused on the interdependence between economical and social development and the environment. The group organized many conventions, workshops and events around the subject of sustainable development. He took part in the NGO followup process of the United Nations Agenda 21 program ("CSD"), helped to prepare the NGO work for the United Nations Habitat II conference in Istanbul, and so forth.
Politically, as a member of the green party Reinhard founded the "Arbeitsgruppe Umwelt und Entwicklung - ARGUE" that worked in local campaigning. They promoted e.g. local, organic farming and organized events and fun fairs for that. Reinhard was deputy party spokesperson for his city, deputy member of the cities "commission for green spaces", member of the election-commission, and other things. Due to his international work, Reinhard has paused active work in political or social groups, but is still a strong supporter of many of them in order to raise awareness for the immense risks of unsustainable human growth.
